Shopping Is Fun In The Rain…
Well the Rapture might not have happened, but the Heavens still opened up and flooded Adelaide today! But I still really wanted to go in to raid the last of what Borders had. In particular, the coolest Peace hand that I passed up last time and was hoping would still be there. So Laura and I drove through the rain to the city and braved our way down windy rundle Mall to Borders. It wasn’t there. Boo! I was so dissapointed! Anyway, I still got two amazing books, Trinny & Susannah’s ‘Who Do You Want To Be Today’, which is a fantastic style guide and ‘The Daring Girls Guide’ which every girl should own - full of fun facts, interesting stories, and just really inspiring. I love that it encourages girls to do anything, to seek knowledge, to love life and still be the rockingest girl out there! I’m going to keep it for my niece and give it to her when she’s old enough to read it - I hope it inspires her.
Anyway, we also went to Lovisa (how did I not know this existed?!) which has stacks of amazing jewelry and hair pieces. I got a couple of super cute rings and an epic spiky gold & black bracelet. There were so many other pieces I loved - I will have to go back later and get them!
The image is from the third story of the Myer centre and looks down Rundle Mall. It’s one of my most favourite parts of Adelaide. Personally I love that everything is central in Adelaide - We’ve got the mall with tons of shops, Rundle street down from there with the amazing cafes, and on the other size of Rundle Mall is North Terrace with our Art Gallery, Museum, Parliament house… a perfect tourist city. I should get paid by Tourism SA!
On the way back we stopped at Coles (supermarket) to get some groceries, and that was when the rain decided that I wasn’t quite wet enough. It’s also when I discovered that yes, my shoes did have holes in the bottom. They’re still a bit squishy.
Hope everyone had as good a weekend as I did! It was truly perfect, spending time with my family, spending too much money, laughing, blogging, eating pretzel m&ms. Love to all and hope the upcoming week is fast, busy, drama free and fun!
Adelaide Guide | Design*Sponge
AHHH!! I was sooo excited to see Adelaide featured on Design*Sponge!!! This guide is full of places to see, eat at and shop in. I definietly recommend Cocolat too, it’s so amazing. There’s actually some places on this list that I’ve never been too (isn’t that always the way - you never know the awesomeness on your back step!)
Today was not only a beautiful sunny Sunday, but also a pleasant day out with my lovely cousin Laura! After a leisurely lunch at the amazing Chocolate Bean cafe off Rundle Street, we headed down the road to take in some of the Rundle Street markets. Probably due to the amazing weather, the place was packed! We checked out some of the shops on Rundle Street including the absolutely scrumptious Allanah Hill store which was like walking into my dream wardrobe! My dream wardrobe… if I won the 10 million I forgot to buy a ticket in. Oh well. There were lots of items I think I could replicate at about one hundredth of the price! We then took a walk down to the amazing Garden Of Unearthly Delights, which springs up every year that the Fringe is on (FYI for those not from Adelaide - the Fringe is a festival of arts, which includes everything from Opera, Burlesque and Comedy to Puppet Shows, Trapeze artists and Dancing!). As it was the middle of the day, there wasn’t a lot open, but there were still lots of people there, enjoying the sunshine, the free music and the side shows. Unfortunately, we missed out on the Drumming Monkeys (I think I was more dissapointed than Laura) but we didn’t miss out on the people watching while sitting on one of the many benches that were provided (all of the deck chairs were taken surprisingly!) Once we had had enough of that, we traipsed back up to Rundle Street to the massive and tantalising Cocolat. We each chose Peach Iced Tea and Crepes - me Lemon and Sugar and Laura Triple Chocolate. It was so delicious! But it now occurs to me that I went to two Chocolate shops and never actually ate any chocolate. I guess for next time! All in all it was an amazing day, one of those days where you feel lucky to live in an amazing city in an amazing country, with beautiful family and delicious restaurants!
A Lovely Sunday
You already know how much I love Adelaide, so I thought I would show you a little piece of it that I love - Cikolatte! This gorgeous little cafe not only has delicious tea & coffee (one wall is COVERED in tea you can buy - lovely!) but the chocolates… ah the chocolates. How do they print these gorgeous designs on the chocolates? And do I really care?! The ones featured in the pic are Raspberry & Orange (they had fancier names than that but I don’t remember them!) with the lovely prints, and Strawberry. We enjoyed them with Peppermint tea & Iced Coffee. These delicious treats along with the warm sunshine and a cool breeze make life worth living!
