DIY Tufted Headboard | Little Green Notebook
I love my home made headboard - it’s comfy to lean against when I’m reading, doesn’t let my head hit the wall, etc. But it’s a pretty dodgy version - I made it out of two canvases stapled together, padding over the top and then fabric. The buttons used to make it ‘tufted’ but they’ve all popped out! I’ve been looking to re-make one but I’m terrible with drilling holes. What sets this one apart is that you use peg board, meaning no holes and more precise tufts. I’m thinking of going with yellow to match my new lamps!
Creative Bedroom Ideas | Lolalina
I have been trying to think of a way to make over my room. I’m allowed to paint or wallpaper (yay!) but… it all feels kind of done. Plus, my bedroom doesn’t get a lot of light and I don’t want it to feel smaller than it already is. This is perfect! It frames the bed, brings colour to the room and it means I get to have three different colours. I adore everything about this room - this pic is going straight to my landlord (Dad!)
Lits à la Duchesse | ECAB
My mum and I watch a lot of British tv, and I think that it’s influenced my style quite a bit! I like the cosy, cocoon feel of canopies, and this one is gorgeous. If you have the same style as me, click through the rest of this amazing site - there are lots of beautiful sewing projects.
Gold Stencil Headboard | Simply Sjostedt
If you’re feeling like your bedroom needs a bit of a facelift, a headboard can really change a room. It can serve as a centre piece for the room, and you can then decorate the rest of the room around it. This is a really pretty design yet I doubt you would get any complaints from a gentleman. I really like the gold design - subtle yet it will really shine in the sunlight. Of course you don’t have to use gold or even this design but with a wooden base and some creativity you’re set!
Chalk Headboard | Two Fly Chicks
If you’ve been umming and awing about wether or not to paint one of your walls with chalkboard paint, I think that this is a pretty convincing reason to do it! I just love that drawn headboard. The thing with the blackboard wall is that you can change it up as soon as you get bored with it - and the only cost is going to be for a box of chalk! And bonus: chalkbord pens. Have you seen them? They are truly awesome. I think I just talked myself into doing this. I’m so convincing!
Nailhead Trim Headboard | Centsational Girl
Speaking of bedrooms, my bedhead really needs a makeover and this is perfect. I really love the look of studs (if you’ve been reading my blog, I’m pretty sure you already know that!) and this would look great with that tissue paper background. Very classy and grown up, and pretty easy to make if you have or know someone who has a jigsaw. That is what I want next on my tools list. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t cut off my hand.
DIY Bench Project | J & J Home
As previously mentioned, my Dad recently turned an old dresser of mine into a tv unit, and now I have an extra tv bench that I’m unsure of what to do with. I think this is a great idea - adding padding to the top and making it a bed bench. Bonus: the shelves are the perfect size for my shoes! I love this fabric too. Does anyone know where I could get something similar?!
DIY Canopy Bed | Country Living
Secret confession time: the main reason I wanted to feature this DIY is because of that adorable dog! Whew, now I’ve got that off my chest, now I can talk about how gorgeous this yellow, white and blue bed setting is. I love that it’s just made out of a pair of curtains and a hoop. I have a hoop sitting in my cupboard that I intended to hang but never got around to it, I think I’ll do this instead!
Bed Tutu | Sugar Bee Crafts
So I know this is meant to be for a little girl’s bed but why can’t I have a bit of tutu goodness in my own bedroom?! I would love something dreamy like this, maybe in a creamy colour. And the way they did this is the same as the tutu I featured before, by knotting around the base of the bed. Too easy!
Painted Headboard & Free Download | Better Homes & Gardens
I found this headboard in a great set by Better Homes & Gardens. Not only is it a great idea, you can also download the pattern for the flower, so pretty and sweet for a little girl’s bedroom! I also love that this is clearly a very girlie room even with the blue wall - just goes to show it’s not what you put on the walls, it’s what you put in the room!
Chicken Wire Wall | Ashley Anne Photography
So I know I said I was going to bed but I saw this and had to share! This might be one of the cleverest things I’ve ever seen, though when you say it out loud it sounds ridiculous! There are so many things I like about this room - the wall is great, and as Ashley says, it’s like a blank canvas that allows her to change up the art on the wall without putting masses of holes in the wall. I also love the fabric hanging over her four poster bed. I think I need to save up some money so I can get a four poster bed - I think they’re so sweet and lovely.
Ok, now I’m going to bed!
Vinyl DIY Headboard | Short Of Something
As I’ve said before, vinyl wall stickers have exploded onto the market and they don’t seem to be going away anytime soon! But it annoys me how much they cost at times - especially for something that is temporary. So I like to see people making their own, and this one caught my eye. Personally I find I need a real headboard - padded too - because I’m such a restless sleeper my pillows end up everywhere and I need something to protect my head from the wall! But I know some people can’t afford that, and having something certainly adds pizzaz to a room!
