Continuing my ‘pretty spooky’ (get it!? Pun!) Halloween theme, I present this ethereal, soft and super easy to re-create ‘Into The Woods’ costume. The ‘costume’ is the easiest part - simple dress and tulle cape - then collect your dead/dried flowers to make yourself a creepy floral crown and combine it with a dark berry lip and smoky eyes. Click through the whole gallery for lots more inspiration too!
White & gold seems to be the combo du jour right now, and I love it! And it fits so many different decors. You’ll have fun searching through your house for the best ‘imprints’ though I have to say I love the swirly necklace imprint, perfect for all your trinkets and jewels.
As a someone on a budget, I can’t really justify buying brand new furniture when what I already have is fine (if not really my style) so makeovers are the easiest way to create something ‘new’ with not a lot of cash. This dresser is an amazing piece that I can’t get enough of - the combo of gold and white is right up my alley, but you could really go with any colour combo - clashing, tonal, etc.
As part of my bedroom makeover project, I wanted a bench for the end of my bed - somewhere to lay my clothes for the next morning and top sit when I’m putting on my shoes. The bench I loved was of course $300, so I put it back on the drawing board. Then I saw this project and thought - yep, I’ve found a solution! And such a clever solution. I already have a couple of chairs, though if you don’t, have a look at your local op shop. Or you could try using a couple of wooden stools from IKEA. The best part - those very pretty little legs!
I’ve been collecting homewares & DIY books for a while now, and I’ll tell you what - they are not the lightest things in the world. I had a beautiful pair of bookends my sister got me for Christmas that met their unfortunate fate under my Design*Sponge tome. These bookends however - no, not solid gold - bricks painted gold! And super girly with the lace. I don’t think these babies are going to get a chip on them, and they’ll keep those big books under control.
I just borrowed a fab ‘vintage style’ beauty & hair book from the library and I’m now a bit obsessed with trying to achieve the big waves and winged liner of the 50’s! I also love the rolled fringes and bandana combos, just like the one pictured. Perfect for those days when your hair is a bit dodgy - you’ll probably even get compliments1
This year I actually followed one of my New Year’s resolutions - to start wearing makeup. I can’t believe I actually did because I would rather have an extra twenty minutes sleep than put on makeup. But I actually love it and it makes me feel better when I wear it. I’ll wear bright pink lipstick, orange blush, but I’ve only ever used netural eyeshadow. But after seeing this, I think I need to start having a go at bright eyeshadow - it’s so fun! Now to try and master the eyeliner…
Here is a quick yet pretty hair style that can be styled in two different ways. I particularly like the way the hair is twisted around the pony tail. I’m trying this out tomorrow!
It’s the ladies conundrum - you want to cut your long hair but then when you have short hair all you want is long hair. Well here’s a good solution - just pin your hair into a faux bob! Camille shows you the steps to create this easy style, and even better all you need is some bobby pins and a hair tie!
Antler Coat Rack | Camille Styles
Unfortunately I can’t get shed antlers here in Australia, but if you’re lucky enough to have access to them then I am jealous of you and here is a great tutorial for you! Haha! I love the combination of gold and pastels. If you don’t want to use it for a coat rack then it would be gorgeous for your jewelry or even just for decoration.
Suitcase Cat Bed | Camille Styles
Anyone who has a pet knows that if you want a stylish piece of anything for them, you need to shell out big bucks! It seems like as soon as they add diamantes to a cat collar they add another twenty bucks. And don’t get me started on cat beds. Even the ugly cat beds are expensive. When I saw this cat bed I thought - that’s cute but I bet it’s so…. wait, I can make it! Personally, I would remove the lid because my cat has a habit of getting stuck in things, and I could just see coming home and finding her stuck in the suitcase. I know Sophie would love this - furry, off the ground and I love it because it won’t ruin my decor! Haha! Though anyone who has a cat also knows that regardless of how expensive or well made a bed is for them, they will still sleep in yours!
