Liquid Measure Equivalents | Sweetopia
Print out this pretty little equivalent chart and keep it in your kitchen for those times you are stuck trying to work out how many teaspoons are in a tablespoon when you can’t find that one spoon… which seems to happen to me a lot!
Homemade Mini corn Dogs | A Beautiful Mess
In S.A. we call these Dagwood Dogs. I have no idea why. But you can get them at the Royal Adelaide Show dipped in tomato sauce (ketchup) and they are just the freakin’ best thing. Fair food is the best. Well, actually, it’s the worst for you, but it tastes so good! Wouldn’t these be a great finger food for a party? Oh man I want a Dagwood Dog so badly. When is the show again!?
Flavoured Lemonade | A Beautiful Mess
If you’re from a place where you consider Lemonade to be a fizzy lemon drink, please note that this Lemonade is like lemon cordial - water, lemons, a dash of sugar! And these flavours are just the kind I dream of - grapefruit lemonade, strawberry and basil lemonade, cucumber mint limeade and blackberry lemonade! I think the first one I plan on making is the strawberry basil, what an amazing combo!
Mini Pineapple Upside Down Cupcakes | A Beautiful Mess
I love classic recipes that are simple yet delicious. Pineapple Upside Down Cake is all that and more! I love the idea of making mini versions of cakes, especially if you’re planning on sharing (or you just want to avoid eating a whole cake… though cupcakes can be incredibly moreish!))
Speckled Egg Cake | The Cake Blog
I’ve been just staring at this cake for the last ten minutes, scrolling, scrolling, thinking, staring, So of course I just had to share it with you! It’s a tradition in my family that my mum always makes an Easter cake. She makes a chocolate cake in a bundt mold and then fills the middle with chocolate eggs and sprinkles it with chocolate shavings. This is like the mod, pastel version of that cake! I love tradition so i’m thinking this might be my version to continue it!
These are freakin’ adorable! So good to have with your coffee, or even with a chocolate mousse or ice cream. Now just to find a spoon cookie cutter…
I’ve always been incredibly impressed by people who are able to decorate cakes and cookies like this. There are so many variables when it comes to food - having the correct tools, temperature, ingredients - and knowing how to combine them to create something so beautiful! Sweetopia has lots of recipes like this so make sure to check them out if you love cooking (or just love looking at things like this like me!)
Nutella Cinnamon Rolls | A Beautiful Mess
Hands up if you love nutella! Hands up if you love cinnamon rolls! Ok everyone, put your hands down. Here is the recipe for you - a combination of these two amazing delicacies in one. Imagine these straight out of the oven… mmm. Time to get baking!
Surprise Christmas Cookies | Craftstorming
My niece’s favourite part of Christmas (apart from the obvious presents!) is bonbons. She once opened a whole box of them, just one after the other! I think she just loves surprises to be honest. So when I saw these cookies I knew she would love them too. I’m going to make some with the mini m&ms and probably the candy bracelets too. In fact I’m pretty sure everyone will love these… but Mia will probably be the one who breaks them all open!
Jalapeno Poppers | Fabric Paper Glue
One thing I miss about America is appetisers. We don’t really do it here, and when we do it’s usually garlic bread! I loved getting those appetiser plates with all the really bad food for you on it - mozzarella sticks, potato skins, Buffalo wings. Yum! But what I really loved were Jalapeno Poppers. That mix of bacon, cheese and pepper, all crunchy and hot - yum. I have tried this recipe and have to say, even though I was a bit iffy about the goats cheese they were really tasty!
Vintage Recipe Cards | Love Vs Design
I’ve posted a lot of recipe cards on S+T but I think that these are my favourite ones! Plus how cool would the pattern on the back look as wallpaper in a kitchen!? This would be a great Christmas present - print some of these, tie with ribbon, add some pretty tea towels maybe a couple of those cool retro utensils - done!
Homemade Soft Pretzels | Weelicious
Oh boy, I lovecinnamon soft pretzels. They are like the ultimate comfort food and I’m sad that I can only get them if I travel an hour out of my way. I found this amazing kids recipe website called Weelicious and this amazing recipe for soft pretzels and squealed with delight! I haven’t had much luck in the past with bread recipes… I don’t completely understand the complexities of yeast and why it never wants to work for me. But I’m gonna try for the pretzels… for the pretzels.
One thing I love to do but am always terrible at is cake decorating! I always see pictures of these delicious cakes and think - I could totallydo that - and they always promise that it’s so easy! Well when I saw this cake I thought, ‘Easy? Yeah right’. But once I actually saw this tutorial I thought - hmm, maybe I coulddo that! Yes, it would take more than the usual slap dash 5 minute icing job, but if you’re wanting to make a cake for a special occasion then this would be perfect. Plus don’t you think it looks even more delicious?!
Green Tea Shortbread | Whatever’s Left
If I had to choose between tea & coffee, it would be tea every time! I read a lot of Enid Blyton and other British authorsĀ when I was younger and they always had tea - when they were having afternoon tea, to warm them up, with breakfast. It is like a comfort drink - hot tea with sugar and lemon. Yum. And of course, when you have tea, you need a biscuit to dip (is this just a British/Aussie thing?!) How perfect are these shortbread bikkies for that?! If you’re not keen on green tea I’m sure you could substitute your favourite. Right, all this talk of tea has me craving. Tea break!
Boba & Bubble Tea | The Kitchn
If you’ve never had bubble tea, you have to try it! It’s like a sweet, milky tea that you can find at some Asian restaurants (in Adelaide there’s a Bubble Tea shop downstairs of the Myer Centre in the City!) If you want to try it but can’t find it from stores or you love it and want to have it whenever you want, this is a great recipe from The Kitchn. Have fun!
