Valentine Popcorn Invitation | Eat Drink Chic
I can’t remember if I featured this last Valentine’s day, but it’s so sweet that I figured some of you who have only just started following would love to see it! All of the paper pieces are free to download. Add a DVD of your favourite movie and maybe some of this Party Popcorn and you’ve got a fun Valentine’s Night in!
Valentine Twig Arrows | Homework
If you’re trying to think of something a little different this Valentine’s day than the usual store bought cards, then this is the perfect crafty alternative! You could make them for a little one to give out in school, give them to co-workers with magnets on the back for them to hold their Valentine’s cards up or use them to point to something in the house for a loved one… they’re so adorable!
Chalkboard Mug | Wit & Whistle
Chalkboard paint has had a massive resurgence in 2011, with basically anything with a hard surface being covered in it! I fell in love with chalkboard walls (though I think I would have a hard time convincing my landlord to let me do that!), bought my own pot and went mad with it. I still have a lot left over, so I’m going to try making some mugs like this. Just a thought - write on them before you fill with hot liquid!
DIY Circle Scarf | Yours Truly, G
There’s three days til Christmas. You’ve realised you’ve forgotten someone. Do you brave the insanity of the stores? Or do you make something?! If you answered yes/no, then I bid you good speed! If you answered no/yes, then I have the project for you! This sewing project is as easy as they come - if you can sew straight lines you can make this. Even if you can’t sew straight lines, if you can use fabric glue then you can make this! And they’re so pretty too - perfect for young and old.
Edit: Oops! Now with the link!
Pom Trim Scarf | Carry On…Carry On…
I get quite a few people requesting no-sew crafts, so for y’all here is a great one that is also perfect for gift giving! I have always loved scarves but I think that there is a conspiracy that any that I fall in love with are about three centimeters long once I pull them off the rack. Thus, making my own is always the preferred option. I love this scarf, mainly because I have a passion for ticking fabric and pom pom trim! If you want, you can sew the trim on, but the tutorial for this one shows how to attach the trim using fabric glue. quick and easy, perfect to give to friends (choose a print that you think they will like and get pom trim to match - or any other trim if you don’t adore pom pom as much as I do!)
Garland For All Occasions | Twinkle & Twine
If you’re the kind of person (like me) who always has the best of intentions when it comes to decorating for special occasions but never follows through (like me) then this is a great little kit to have on hand. Make all the letters you need for special occasions (like ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Merry Christmas’ or ‘TGIF’) and store them in the box for when you need them.
Vintage Teacup Candle | Ruche
It’s almost a given that every year I end up receiving a candle. Not that I hate getting candles, it’s just that… ugh, I HATE getting candles. But if I received this candle I would be beyond thrilled! It’s so pretty, and afterwards you get a pretty tea cup. Plus, if you use soy wax it burns so much nicer than the dodgy ones you get from the cheap stores!
Trixy Sticks | Chow
Chow has taken the humble Pixie Stick and made it super luxe! There are some really interesting flavours here - chile-tamarind, black sesame, yuzu, beet-rose, and urban-foraged spruce tips. Apparently these are the ‘trendy’ flavours you’d find in restaurants. Um.. I’d maybe try the yuzu!? But you could always try making these in um… normal… flavours! Some fresh mint or pomegranate flavours would be nice and adult. Make a big bunch and package them up for Christmas favours.
Hand Painted Mug | The Sweetest Occasion
One thing you learn about working in an office - do not touch other people’s mugs. Doing so will lead to passive-agressive emails, accusations and hurt feelings. The only thing is that everyone in our office has very similar mugs that they all put into the same cupboard, so the above situations quite often arise! So for Christmas I’m going to make people personalised mugs like the above one so that there can be a little peace this Holiday season!
Wine Glass Charms | Centsational Girl
After reading this post I really want to try Amazing Glaze! It’s a powder that you cook in the oven which then turns into hard resin. This DIY is just in time for all the upcoming parties that come along with the festive season. I particularly like the ones pictured but there’s lots of other ideas for using the powder. I’m trying to think of what else you could make… maybe a pet tags? Or resin jewelry?
Halloween Favor Bottle | Somewhere Splendid
I promised I would share the link for these awesome bottles and here it is! I’m thinking I need to have a Halloween party just so I can give these out. The contents of these bottles is actually Pop Rocks which I love. Am I the only one who loves Pop Rocks!? The labels are a free download and there’s also a link for the little bottles used.
Jenga Keychains | Sarah Ortega
As I’ve said before, Christmas is coming. And we know what that means - money. And spending a lot of it! I want to encourage y’all to think DIY this year and mae as many gifts as possible for family and friends! This is one of the easiest projects you can make and make in bulk too. If you don’t have old Jenga pieces to use, try looking in an Op shop or ask someone if they have an old set they wouldn’t mind giving up. This is the perfect little gift for those you want to give a little present to but you don’t want to spend a lot on. Easy as! I’m going to post a few more ‘Christmas Present’ ideas as we get closer (and o course there’s going to be more when we hit December!) and mostly cheap, easy to do stuff.
Mustache Mug | The Tortoise & The Hare
Are you still trying to work out what to get Dad for Father’s Day? How about this cute mug filled with his favourite lollies? Or even a set of mustache mugs? This is a perfectly sweet present that won’t cost you the earth but still shows how much you love your dear old da!
Fun Favor Boxes | Bijou Bride
These cute boxes remind me of hershey’s kisses! Perfect for a wedding favor. Only draw back - I can see cutting out the boxes would drive you nuts, so if you were to try this for more than… fifty people, I would suggest starting early and spacing it out over a few nights/weeks!
Selfridges Inspired Favours | You Are My Fave
These are so sweet, when I first saw them I just assumed they were from Selfridges! But no, these milk bottle favours and home made, using labels from the Martha Stewart line to decorate. I’m always on the look out for easy gifts to make as thank yous and this certainly comes under that category. Now I just need to get those Martha Stewart labels!
