I love those tutorials where they show you how to recreate a hair style that only takes four different pomades, 300 bobby pins and 7 arms. For some reason, my hair never looks the same as the picture, fancy that! If you can French braid (or braid if you’re like me!) and create a back comb, you can create this hairstyle. I like that it’s an updo but doesn’t feel too ‘done’, meaning if you get up earlier than me in the mornings, you could probably create this style (or something close to it!)
There are lots of reasons you might have dirty hair in the morning (at my house it’s from repeated alarm clock hitting!). But just because your hair is dirty, doesn’t mean you have to settle for the usual pony - these four hairstyles are pretty and fairly easy to create. I particularly love the top right hand style - I’ll have to practice it so I can do it even when I’m half asleep!
I never would usually encourage y’all to tie your hair into knots but when it looks this pretty, why wouldn’t you!? This is a pretty twist (haha, pun!) on the traditional French braid and should work on most hair lengths (unless your hair is super short). Just don’t pull those knots too tight, I don’t want you to have to cut it off!
I’ve always loved LA’s style - she is always creating pieces that are completely her - clean, modern and chic. So I wasn’t surprised to see this amazing hairstyle from her - it’s incredibly slick and perfect. If you don’t want to do the low pony, it would look amazing in a bun too.
First of all, I’m super jealous of this lady’s gorgeous red hair! Sigh. I just need to learn that brown is the only colour for me. Sigh again. Anyway, just because I don’t have red hair, I can style try this braided crown hair style. I haven’t always had the best of luck with doing fishtail braids but this look is so very Florence & The Machine that I’m willing to try again!
Hair Turban | Mammal & Lamb
I hatewearing my hair down. But I like having long hair - #firstworldproblems. There’s nothing that stresses me out more than not having a hair tie, and it always seems like mine have been eaten by the same monster that steals all my bobby pins! This cute little do’ only requires one thing though - a scrap of fabric! Using your hair as the turban, you knot it on top of your head and then use your fabric to keep it in place (check out the tutorial, it’s much better explained there!)
A New Twist | The Beauty Department
So… the other day I had enough of my hair and cut it all off. Don’t freak out! I’ve done it before and because my hair is naturally wavy, I just chop bits and pieces to make it kind of layered and beachy. I love it. But then I see awesome hair tutorials like this and wish I still had long hair so I could do this! Well hopefully someone reading this will see it and get some joy out of doing this super pretty twist!
2 Minute Updo For Work | Ebeauty Blog
This looks really complicated, but after seeing the video tutorial I’m pretty sure even I could do this! I’m posting this especially for my sister Sarah who is always on the hunt for new ways to do her hair, I think she would like this!
Boho Hair Style | Elisa McLaughlin
This hair style is not only different and pretty, but easy to do plus quick for those mornings when you want to look put together without having to flat iron/hot curl/blow dry. And cooler, Elisa has a DIY for how to make the headband!
DIY Hair Bow | The First Lime
Who says bows are just for presents?! This is the perfect style to get you through the holiday season, interesting enough to catch attention but not too Lady Gaga-ish to make people avoid you at the punch bowl. A few people have said they tried this and had trouble with the ‘bow’ part - I think practice makes perfect!
Winter Lookbook Hair & Makeup Tutorial | Ruche
Ruche is one of my favourite online shops to browse and get inspiration from, so I was so excited when they featured this tutorial on not only how to achieve the makeup from their lookbook, but the hair too! It’s all very 20’s and I adore that red lippy.
Braided Bun Tutorial | Crochet Clouds
For some reason I decided to dye my hair bright red last night. Let’s just say, it didn’t come out as I hoped and it’s now a streaky, splotchy mess! Boo. So now I’m trying to style my hair so that it doesn’t show. I can’t do little braids but I’m a pro at this kind! And I like the way it comes into a bun at the back. Pretty and practical!
Hair Comb | Lemon Jitters
Tonight I had one of those intense feelings like I wanted to cut off my hair. It usually happens when I’m feeling out of control (does anyone else know what I mean?!) and for some reason cutting my hair makes me feel better… for about five minutes. So instead I hid the scissors and searched for some ways to style my hair! These pretty combs are not only easy but super cheap to make - you can get about four or five from the store for $2 and floss is a dime a dozen. Hopefully it will give me enough interest to avoid the chop!
Updo Buns For Summer | Refinery 29
I’m pretty in love with that first bun, though I know it’s probably hideous to a lot of folks! Including guys. Guys don’t get fashion. This is apparently called a ‘unicorn bun’. Haha! Awesome. I’m also feelin’ that second bun, the perfect work do, though I doubt I could get it that neat. And the last one - totally my style because it’s meant to be messy.
Braided Do’ | Keiko Lynn
This style combines two of my favourite hair styles - the ‘bump’ and the braid! I just love beauty tutorials and Keiko has some amazing ones. I’m thinking I need to start a beauty DIY blog. That would make… four blogs. Though the Wedding one I don’t maintain, I suck. I should just delete it. Would y’all like a beauty DIY blog?
