Goldilocks & The Three Bears Costume | A Beautiful Mess
This might be the cutest family Halloween costume I’ve ever seen! How freakin’ cute is mini little Goldilocks?! The bear heads could be a fun group project to do and of course you could even use them as decoration afterwards.
French Macaron Costume | Studio DIY
I know that I’ve only really posted kids costumes for Halloween, but honestly I think they are the cutest and the easiest to modify for adult costumes. A lot of bought costumes for ladies are… basically lingerie with animal ears (‘I’m a mouse! Duh!’) and I would rather look cute and fun than like I accidentally walked out of a Victoria Secret’s changing room. I adore this French Macaron costume - and it looks so comfortable! Plus, I’m not sure when else you can get away with wearing a sparkly pink beret!
Sci-Fi Guys Costumes | The Etsy Blog
Here is a great set of Halloween costumes that The Etsy Blog has put together from their stores. I love the Marty McFly costume - so cool! If only you could get his ‘future’ costume. One of the great things about these costumes is that you should be able to get some of the pieces from op shops or borrow them. Though you may find it hard to find someone who will admit to having an acid wash denim jacket…
Sushi Costume with Headpiece | Instructables
How cool is this costume!? You do need a little bit of sewing experience to create the piece of fish but the rest is pretty straight forward - the ‘wasabi’ headpiece is made from felt and then you just need to wear white clothes and tie your fish on with some black ‘seaweed’. Delicious!
Fab 5 Gymnast Costume | I Spy DIY
If you’re wanting to go as a group costume for Halloween then this is a perfect idea! Not only is it easy to create but you also get to make gold medals - perfect for photo ops!
I’ll have to admit, it was the giant orange moustache that really sealed the deal for me with this costume! Unfortunately my niece is at the age where she refuses to wear anything that isn’t a princess or fairy but maybe you have someone in your life (big or small!) who would get a kick out of being the Lorax this Halloween!
Mr & Mrs Fox Halloween Costume | Cupcake Dream at Burdastyle
OK, so this might not be a quick and easy costume but this is an amazing costume! If you can find a fox mask that you can cover in fur, it shouldn’t be too hard to find some vintagey-style clothes to dress up in. I think a lot of people would want to have photo ops with you at the Halloween party!
Quick Costume: Swamp Couple | Martha Stewart
If you have an old dress, a ton of plastic leaves and a hot glue gun, you can make this in under 30 minutes! I know this might sound insane but I think she looks really classy! If I had to go to a party, this would be what I would dress up as. Plus: awesome hat. You can wear this by yourself or of course you can make the man’s swamp costume too.
Quick Costume: Holly Golightly | Carry on… Carry on…
This week I’m going to feature super quick and easy Halloween costumes for y’all who are still trying to work out what you’re going to wear.
Today’s quick costume is the iconic Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffanys. The costume is based on the scene when Paul is talking to Holly. You probably recognise the sleep mask & tassled earplugs! This post has a tutorial on how to make the sleep mask. For the ear plugs you can make your own (just hot glue some tassles to ear plugs) and then pop on an oversized men’s dress shirt. Super quick, super cheap, and when you’re finished at the party you don’t even need to put on pyjamas!
Up! Halloween Costumes | More Than Words Can Say
This Halloween costume is so cute. I know that Up might not be ‘current’ but I think almost everyone would have seen Up! by now and recognise this pair. The hardest part would be Russel’s costume, but oh my gosh he’s adorable. Plus there’s a link to the merit badges used for Russel’s little sash.
Edit: Haha, sorry! Of course I meant Russel, my bad!
Mary Poppins & Bert | Keiko Lynn
Trust Keiko to come up with an easy but excellent Halloween costume! I’m assuming there are other Mary Poppins obsessives out there? Yes? Then you would understand how exciting this costume is to me! Massive bonus is having Bert as your partner! I’m not sure where you would be able to get a chimney brush but you could always make one.
Lichtenstein Comic Girl Halloween Costume | Illusion
If you’re looking for a high-impact Halloween costume, then this is perfect! MAC created this for Halloween which is probably why it’s so amazing. Yes, it would be time intensive, but you could guarantee there wouldn’t be anyone else at your party wearing this!
Headless Marie Antoinette Costume | MAKE
OK so more people wanted Halloween costumes early than those who didn’t so I’m going to post a couple in the lead up months as to not bombard you!
This is an amazing costume - I remember seeing it ages ago and thinking - if I ever go to a costume party where there is a monetary prize I so will do this! In fact you should probably start this project now if you’re planning on doing this for this Halloween because it’s a little time intensive. This would probably suit shorter folks - if you’re too tall it may look like a freaky giant Marie! And if you didn’t want to dress as Marie Antoinette you can always try other themes - headless waitress? Headless um… well I guess you can do headless anything really!
