Here is a great set of Halloween costumes that The Etsy Blog has put together from their stores. I love the Marty McFly costume - so cool! If only you could get his ‘future’ costume. One of the great things about these costumes is that you should be able to get some of the pieces from op shops or borrow them. Though you may find it hard to find someone who will admit to having an acid wash denim jacket…
There are a ton of poison bottle printables available but I like this one because it’s also a DIY on how to create the bottles too. I particularly like the ‘venomous’ label!
How cool is this costume!? You do need a little bit of sewing experience to create the piece of fish but the rest is pretty straight forward - the ‘wasabi’ headpiece is made from felt and then you just need to wear white clothes and tie your fish on with some black ‘seaweed’. Delicious!
If you’re wanting to go as a group costume for Halloween then this is a perfect idea! Not only is it easy to create but you also get to make gold medals - perfect for photo ops!
Ok, so these are ‘little’ artist costumes (which are so freakin’ adorable I can barely take it!) but of course these are so easy to create that ‘bigs’ can make these too! Personally I adore the Frieda Kahlo outfit but the Vincent Van Gogh is hilarious!
Did anyone watch the short lived show Pan Am? I thought it was great, especially Christina Rici. Well even though it’s still not on, it’s perfect inspiration for Halloween! Even better is that it’s not too hard to put together, and there is a great tutorial on how to make a Pan Am hat. And I’m pretty sure that if you check out eBay you should be able to find a vintage Pan Am bag!
Speaking of owls, here is a great way to decorate your house for Halloween with just some black card! Even better, you don’t need to try and resize the owl image, as Martha has already split the clipart across four pages. Add some twigs (spray painted black if you want) and voila, super cheap decorations.
I’ll have to admit, it was the giant orange moustache that really sealed the deal for me with this costume! Unfortunately my niece is at the age where she refuses to wear anything that isn’t a princess or fairy but maybe you have someone in your life (big or small!) who would get a kick out of being the Lorax this Halloween!
Well I’m loving the Halloween DIYs on show this year, all my favourite blogs have really outdone themselves! Of course Creature Comforts is included on this list - these actually kind of classy Halloween printables would be perfect treats for adults as well as kids! I particularly love the spider printable!
Giddy Aunt, this is the best Halloween costume I have seen in ages! I think a lot of people dismiss Alfred Hitchcock movies because they’re ‘old’ but The Birds and Vertigo are amazing movies that any suspense loving movie watcher should check out! This is such a clever outfit because not only is it cheap but it’s also funny and iconic! I think I want to throw a party just so that I can wear this!
Continuing our series of classy Halloween DIYs are these amazing painted pumpkins! Personally I lovethe hollowed out pumpkin with the flowers, but of course there’s the even easier option of painting the pumpkins with pretty pastels, gold leaf or preppy plaids!
If you’re over the old plastic, gaudy Halloween decorations here’s a great roundup of very modern and classy ideas to create! I particularly love those bottle labels. Treat your guests to a glass of arsenic while they admire your veiled pumpkins, lace candles and spiderweb artwork!
Strong Man Halloween Costume | Hello! Lucky
OK so I know that it’s a long way til Halloween (or a long way fromHalloween!) but this was so freakin’ adorable that I had to share! And one of the great things about this is that it’s not going to cost a mint to make - it’s a pair of leggings, a jumpsuit ‘tattooed’ with Sailor Jerry-esque designs and a faux 100 pound weight! Did I mention it’s freakin’ adorable?! Favourite this for October!
Mr & Mrs Fox Halloween Costume | Cupcake Dream at Burdastyle
OK, so this might not be a quick and easy costume but this is an amazing costume! If you can find a fox mask that you can cover in fur, it shouldn’t be too hard to find some vintagey-style clothes to dress up in. I think a lot of people would want to have photo ops with you at the Halloween party!
Glitter Pumpkins & Button Spiders | Green Eyed Monster
These are probably my favourite Halloween decorations I’ve seen so far! I adore those button spiders. I saw some pumpkins for sale at Coles (I think they’re trying to encourage Halloween here!) so I think I’m going to have a go at doing this… but they’re pretty big pumpkins, so I think I need to buy a few tons of glitter. I think I’ll do these and the painted pumpkins with my niece. Anyone else getting excited about Halloween!?
