Gold Mylar Heart Pinata | Studio DIY
For some reason pinatas are so expensive - especially for something you end up smashing to bits! Making your own is a much easier and cheaper alternative, but they can be hard to make. This design is simple yet oh-so-pretty. If you can’t bear to hit it, it would also make a great decoration!
Fringed Pyramid Favour Box | Martha Stewart
The lovely people from Confetti System created this absolutely adorable little favour box for Martha Stewart and I’m smitten. Don’t be surprised if you hand these out at a party and people start stealing other people’s favours! Now I need to find myself a pair of fringe scissors…
Kids’ Hot Air Balloon Photo booth | Oh Happy Day
How adorable is this!? And such a good idea - it’s hard enough to get kids to sit and get a photo taken let alone when you involve props. This way you can pop your little one in the basket and snap away. I wish I could make one for adults - how cool would that be for a wedding?!
Valentine Popcorn Invitation | Eat Drink Chic
I can’t remember if I featured this last Valentine’s day, but it’s so sweet that I figured some of you who have only just started following would love to see it! All of the paper pieces are free to download. Add a DVD of your favourite movie and maybe some of this Party Popcorn and you’ve got a fun Valentine’s Night in!
Sequin Photo Booth & Props | Oh Happy Day
We have a big Carers week event in October, but we’re already planning it! We are having multiple celebrations for our Carers and I am going to be on the committee for the Young Carers day. I’ve been racking my brain to try and work out some fun things to do on the day for them. I really wanted to hire a photo booth for them, but they cost $1400 to hire for 4 hours! Crazy. I think they would love something like this though, especially with lots of props to dress up with, like these, these or even these which are also from Oh Happy Day!
Confetti Eggs | Oh Happy Day
These confetti eggs are a traditional Easter party item, but I think they would be perfect for New Years Eve! You’re meant to smash them over each other’s heads, so if you decide to use these you might want to have a less fancy bash or at least warn anyone who has copious amounts of gel or hairspray in their hair, or anyone who spent the day at the salon getting their hair done. That’s for guys and girls! Or you could go for something else inside the eggs, like confetti (though that might be hard to get out of hair too!)
7 Stylin’ New Years Eve Dress and ‘Do Combos | Refinery 29
If you’ve been invited to a party for New Years Eve but have no idea of what to wear or how to do your hair, well then here’s a great round up of styles for all ladies! I personally love the one shouldered dress/bun combo. Of course you don’t need to go out and buy a dress - check the pics for something you already have and dress it up with accessories and your amazing personality!
Retro New Year’s Party Printables | Ellinee
The party season is still in full swing, with the biggest party of the year to come - New Year’s Eve! If you’re hosting and looking for some decor to spruce up the joint, then you can’t go past this rockin’ retro freebie stash! With all you need to (cheaply) bring in the NY with style, this downloadable kit includes cupcake wrappers, banners, wine glass tags and of course - a customisable invitation!
Party Hats | Oh Happy Day
One thing I refuse to do on Christmas day is to wear the paper hats from bonbons. Refuse. They are not fun, they are ugly and you forget you’re wearing them and you walk into a servo and people laugh at you and they are stupid. So this Christmas I’m going to make these freakin’ cute party hats to go with the bonbons I’m making. I would wear these to the shops anyday!
Mini Pinatas | Oh Happy Day
These are just too cute! Instead of smashing them to pieces you can just open the flap at the bottom and pull the lollies out. You know what, when I (finally) get married I would make these to give away to my guests. Of course they would also be great for a Mexican themed party.
Golden Alligator Pinata | Oh Happy Day
Oh Happy Day is doing a ‘Pinata Series’ and started with this awesome golden alligator pinata! I’m not sure why pinatas cost so much here but they do. I’m very hesitant to spend over $30 on something someone is going to smash to pieces. Plus, I have never seen anything as cool as this in the shops! I’m definetly going to make this for my birthday next year… and fill it with Sherbies!
Romantic Table Numbers | Project Wedding
These pretty downloadable table numbers are too sweet just for Weddings. Hang in a little girls room, use on notebooks, blow up your favourite number and frame it, add to ceramic mugs so people know who’s is who’s, or even print them onto transfer paper and make birthday t-shirts!
Dixie Cup Garland | Hello Gorgeous
For those of you who don’t know what a Dixie Cup is, it’s basically a teeny little paper cup! For this project, they’ve been covered in pretty paper and popped onto string lights (I’ve been assured by my Dad that there wouldn’t be enough heat from the lights to set the cups on fire!) When I saw this an idea popped into my head - to save time, you could use pretty patty pans (er, cupcake wrappers for those who don’t know!) like these gorgeous ones from Robert Gordon. I have the blue liberty print ones but up til now I’ve never used them for cupcakes because they’re too pretty! This is a great alternative!
Ribbon Chairs | Grosgrain
I’ve got a folder on my computer called ‘Party Ideas’ that is chock a block full. It’s great to look through, and it’s given me lots of ideas - not just for parties but for my house too! Wouldn’t this look amazing for a wedding? Though it might take you a little while (plus maybe a few friends helping out!)
DIY Party Animals | The Sweetest Occasion
Sometimes I think I should go into party planning just so I can get to do all these amazing party crafts I see! I honestly think these are the cutest candle holders I’ve ever seen. I think people are going to start to think I’m obsessed with spray painting plastic toys. I’m not. I swear.
OK, maybe a little.
