Mini Strawberry, Lemon and Shortbread Trifle | Madigan Made
One thing I love about buffets is the mini desserts. It means that instead of wasting your dessert on onething that might not taste good (or starts to taste bad after a while) you get to have multiple desserts with a little taste of everything! Who doesn’t love that?! These mini trifles would be perfect for your own buffet style dinner party (they’re so easy to make that you could make more than one dessert no stress!)
Spring Rainbow Push-Up Pop Cupcakes | Cookies & Cups
Cupcakes are so easy to make and serve for parties but there’s nothing worse than picking up half eaten cupcake wrappers (or if you’re my niece, cupcakes that have had the icing licked off). Step in push-pop cupcakes! How cool are these?! And the best part is that they can be re-used. So pretty in Spring colours but you can make them in any cupcake flavour combo. Etsy of course has quite a few sellers who stock them but check eBay too. Now I’m really craving a chocolate cupcake…
Oreo Cookies & Cream Cheesecake | La Mia Vita Dolce
Someone pointed out to me that I only post dessert recipes, and I replied: ‘Der, desserts are the best thing ever’. If you agree with me, then check out this awesome cheesecake recipe! I love the pattern that the Oreo cookie leaves on the bottom of the wrapper. Lovely for dinner parties but they’re so little you could keep them in the freezer for those times when you really need something sweet!
DIY Tea Bags | My Little Fabric
This website is in French, but I’m pretty sure it will be quite easy to make these. You can get plain DIY tea bags on craft sites such as Heirloom Body Care. I’m pretty sure all you need to do is cut your shape and then seal your tea bag with a hot iron. I particularly like the cloud tea bags, but the Christmas tree shaped ones would be great with a festive cup for a Christmas gift. Or even heart shaped tea bags for Valentine’s Day! For tea, try online or health food stores. And if you’re in Australia, T2 does really good tea blends!
How To Decorate A Dotty Cake | Manhattan Craft Room by Brett Bara
My niece’s birthday is a fortnight away, and even though she’s having a party on Sunday, her birthday is on Saturday so I really want to make her a special cake for her. I love traditions, and I think making this fr her birthday each year would be lovely - I could even make the dots in different colours! But I quite like the pastel colours in this one. I will have to practice doing dots before attempting a whole cake - unfortunately I’ll have to make quite a few cupcakes to be able to do that!
Have You Heard Of? | Jam Labelizer
A while ago I posted about the Beer Labelizer, well now there’s a Jam labelizer! There are 5 different types of labels all with different styles, including two that you can add a photo to! I love the designs so much I want to make jam just to print these labels off!
Party Popcorn | She Wears Many Hats
I have never seen popcorn with melted chocolate on it, but oh my gosh I really want to eat this now! I should really stop looking at delicious things late at night. I know this is called ‘party’ popcorn but I don’t see why a Sunday night can’t be a reason to celebrate!
Chocolate Dipped Panda Gummy Bears | The Cheese Thief
These are almost too cute to eat! Almost. These were done by dipping the little bears in white chocolate and then ‘painting’ on the features using cocoa powder. Apparently this was quite difficult to build up… but as TCT suggested, it would be a great use for edible ink pens! I first saw these on this website and thought… cute, but what would you use them for!? This would be perfect! Or if you’re feeling brave, you could try dipping into dark melted chocolate. Any way you do it, I doubt these cute little guys would be around long…
Chocolate & Peanut Butter Acorns | Six In The Suburbs
When I lived in the USA, one thing that stood out the most for me in regards to food was that Americans love peanut butter and chocolate. Seriously, there are a million different chocolate bars that have some kind of peanut butter/chocolate variation, there’s biscuits, there’s cereal… After my first Butterfinger I was like - oh my gosh, this is the greatest thing EVER. So when I saw these adorable little ‘acorns’, I immediately went searching USA Foods (a truly awesome site for us Aussies for American food!) for mini Nutter Butters… nope. Frowny face. I might contact them and ask if they can order them in… for those of you who have easier access to Nutter Butter Minis, these would be perfect for a party or… a party of one?! If you don’t love peanut butter and chocolate as much as I do, you could also try this recipe for Acorn Donut Holes (I miss donut holes. Sigh.)
Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries | Sugar Derby
Oh my gosh, these might be the quickest and most delicious looking things I have seen in ages! Cheesecake goes down quite well in my family and I think that these would go really quickly!
Christmas Craft Gift Round Up!
Day 2: Yum Yum! - Sweet Food Gifts
Giving the gift of food is always appreciated. There’s nothing like a sweet treat on Christmas day (because there’s never enough food is there?!) or a ‘bake it later’ jar is perfect pantry gift. I’ve collected my favourite foodie gifts for y’all - I’m pretty sure I’ll be cooking a giant batch of fudge for my friends - it is seriously so easy to make and it goes in about 2 seconds.
Top Row, L-R:

‘In a jar’ gifts are great for your cupboard. Especially when you have a craving and you need something right now. If Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bread isn’t something you think your friends/family would like, do a quick Google search for ‘Cookies In A Jar’ and you’ll be overwhelmed!
Homemade Butter | A Lemon Squeezy Home
There is nothing like home made butter. And seriously, how much butter do you go through during the holidays!? There’s butter on toast, butter on bread rolls, butter in food, butter on butter…
Carbon Dulce | Diamonds For Dessert
Have any friends or family who deserve a little coal this year?! Or just want to play a prank? Carbon Dulce is Spanish for ‘Sweet Coal’ and has a almond flavour. Wrap in a plastic bag and add to a stocking!

3 Minute Microwave Fudge | V & Co
Fudge can be really hard to make - not this stuff. It is the quickest & easiest fudge I have ever made and it’s never gone wrong! I have made this with just the plain chocolate and also added apricot and almonds. So delicious! Chop up, pop in some pretty boxes and you’ve got an easy bulk present!
Hot Chocolate Cones | Ruffled
Though these are meant to be for Wedding favours, what could be better than a hot chocolate cone in Winter? Smash up some candy canes and you’ve got a delicious chocolatey minty drink!
Pancakes In A Jar | Good Life Eats
Another In A Jar recipe, this time for pancakes. I’m going to make one of these for my mum who always has cravings for pancakes but doesn’t have the items in the cupboard!
Hope you enjoyed today’s round up and found some inspiration for some quick and easy Christmas gifts!
Tomorrow: Gifts for mum!
S’mores Pie | The Pastry Affair
My new love is the Pastry Affair, and I honestly can’t work out what the heck I share with you from it because I want to share it all! I finally settled on this S’mores Pie because it made me yell out ‘OH MY GOSH!’ when I saw it! Yum. I would have to take this to a party or someone else’s house though because I’m pretty sure I would eat it all and get really sick… The recipe is quite similar to making a lemon meringue pie - make the crust, fill and then the best part - lay the marshmallows on top and melt them under the broiler. OK, enough talking, time to get backing!
Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart | The Pastry Affair
For me, eating is a social thing. We always ate as a family when I was younger, I catch up with family and friends over dinner or lunch or snacks! I love sitting around a table, enjoying good food and good company. And this pull-apart is perfect for sharing. Ever wish you could just reach through your computer and grab food?! Especially with that marinara sauce. Mmm. The Pastry Affair is an amazing blog - check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
10 Make Ahead Breakfasts | The Kitchn
I’m trying to eat better and I know that part of this is eating breakfast. But I’m so tired in the morning I can’t be bothered to put together something good for myself. I love all of these recipes, especially the yoghurt and the apricot scones. Yum! Now I’m actually looking forward to having breakfast!
Microwave Potato Chips | Savory Sweet Life
I’m a bit of a sucker for potato chips. But I honestly would never thought of making them in the microwave - I would have thought they would have just gone soggy! These also only take about five minutes to cook, so they’re perfect for when you have a craving and need them *right now*.
