These tiny terrariums are the sweetest. Though this project suggests making these as gifts for your wedding guests, if you can’t afford to do that (though omigosh, I would love to get one of these at a wedding!) they would make gorgeous centre pieces for your tables. If you’re making them for your wedding, you could even add some flowers similar to your bouquet or tie on a ribbon in your colour.
I am trying to get myself sorted for Christmas and writing down all the presents I’m planning on getting people. I want to make something special for my soon to be married cousin and thought these napkin rings would be traditional yet cool. Combined with some homemade napkins and there is a cheap yet easy to make present!
I was at IKEA today and thinking of getting some fake flowers - $4 a pop! Giddy aunt. I’d much rather create some pretty faux anemones like this for a total of $4! These would be sweet for a Wedding - either as decoration (place holders, to decorate the aisles, etc) or if you’re wanting to do your Wedding on a budget you could make them for your bouquet or boutonnieres.
This darling little bottle looks like something you’d pay through the nose for at Anthropologie, but it’s actually a relatively easy project you can make on the cheap! And those dots? Well all you need to create those is a hole punch and painters tape - I would never have thought of that but it gives you nice consistent dots across the bottle. Try different colours on different shapes and you’ll have a lovely collection to display.
If you wear a lot of plain shoes like I do, shoe clips are a fantastic way to dress them up. How awesome are these fluffy pom poms!? They’re actually really easy to make too. If you don’t like feathers on your feet, you can really stick anything you like on the wooden pads. For inspiration you could check out Ban Do - think bows, pom poms, even appliques.
Paper Flower Backdrop | Ruffled
A few days ago I was looking around my lounge and thought… it’s all very pink. I need a different colour in my lounge room! I’ve been thinking of changing the wall above my side table but couldn’t really decide on anything. But after seeing this backdrop I think I might be veering towards something like this. It’s a big punchy colour and the perfect complimentary colour to my pink room. And the best part? Dirt cheap. My favourite kind of project!
Dip Dyed Ribbons & Free Printable Tags | Ruffled
What I love the most about these ribbons & tags is that they’re not just for Valentine’s Day - these would be perfect for any gift. The watercolour effects of both are so sweet!
Paper Cone Art | Ruffled
Day two of my wedding DIYs and here is an amazing piece of art that would be not just gorgeous for your wedding but also for your home! This would of course take a little while to make, but it’s pretty straight forward - shape your chicken wire and then make your paper into cones, inserting into all the holes. This would be gorgeous behind the alter as a backdrop. And relatively cheap - buy a couple of reams of paper in your colours and recruit your friends!
Eco Friendly Soy Candles | Ruffled
Making candles is really fun, and once you have the supplies you will become addicted, I promise! You can get your supplies from eBay or Etsy (eBay has some great starter kits) What I like most about soy wax is that it doesn’t give off that horrible smoky smell when you burn it - it just gives you the lovely scent. If you’re looking for some really pretty scents, my favourite place to buy scents is Northwest Natural, you can get a lot of ‘type’ fragrances and even Bacon scent if you really want to smell fresh as a BLT after your shower!
DIY Transparent Boutique Soap | Ruffled
Making soap is my part time job, and I have to say it is one of the things that calms me down when I’m feeling all stressed. I think it’s because when you’re making soap, you have to concentrate, making sure you don’t burn your soap, getting the scent exactly right, etc. And as you can see, you can make some truly beautiful things with melt and pour soap. If you’re like me and getting started on your Chrissy presents already, these are the perfect gift for relatives that you want to get something for but don’t want to spend a ton of money on. Is that terrible!? Haha!
Hot Chocolate Wedding Favours | Ruffled
I know this is for a wedding but if you’re looking for a small and sweet (haha, sweet!) gift for someone during the winter, this is a perfect solution. And when you’re making favours yourself for a wedding, you want to make sure it’s not going to take you a million hours to make - trust me, you will thank yourself later! Now I’m craving a hot chocolate with marshmallows…
DIY Framed Dessert Table Trays | Ruffled
So easy and yet so effective! This is great for those framed pictures in the op shops that you look at and think - ewwww! seriously, there are some pictures I see and think - someone actually bought this and hung it on their wall. Like the flocked clown picture I found this week gone. Two of the worst things ever in one! Anyway, if you see a nice frame but hate the picture, grab your favourite paper, spray paint that frame and turn it into something you would hang on your wall!
