Well we haven’t had one of these in a while! But now it’s back and I have to say, with some pretty good tunes. This past week there has only been one album playing on my iPod though - The Great Gatsby soundtrack. If it’s any reflection of the movie, it’s going to be amazing!

We have just started daylight savings here so I’m a bit out of whack today! But oh my gosh, some beautiful music today. Denai Moore is such a find - beautiful voice, gorgeous lyrics. And I’m pretty sure Lorde will be all over the place soon, keep an ear out! BTW, I am now on Spotify! It took me a while, but now I’m hooked. I’ve got the Sunday Afternoon Playlist as a…playlist… so if you want it all in one hit, check it out! I think I just shared it… ugh, so confusing.
On a Monday! I totally forgot to post yesterday. I know I always say it’s a mixed bag, but it really is tonight - we’ve got high energy dance, sweet ukelele tunes, super soul and 90’s throwback pop. My kind of mix!

Has everyone had a good weekend? Honestly I think I’ve had enough hot weather to last me a life time. Enough already. But one good thing from it is that I get to justify sitting inside, listening to music and reading mags! New favourites this week are AlunaGeorge and Lily So & The Bellows. Plus, new song from Phoenix! Yay!

I’m so excited about the new MS MR single ‘Fantasy’. Hopefully this means we are close to getting a full album! There are lots of ladies on today’s list, and yes, Tweet is the same lady who sang ‘Oops, Oh My’ back in 2002 (had to look that up!). Her new single Enough is actually really nice. I’m also crushing on Laura Mvula. Enjoy!

After having a pretty average few days, I needed to have some fun, upbeat music to listen to. So the theme of this weekend’s playlist is: try not to depress yourself with sad, gloomy emo songs Emma. Good theme right!? I’ve gotta say there’s some gold this week, Marnie Stern’s sound isn’t something I’d usually like but after a few listens it’s growing on me! And of course Cold War Kids just keep getting better. OK, hope you enjoy this week’s list and here’s to a new week beginning, better than the last week ending!
It’s back! This is the first Sunday I’ve had of the new year that I’ve had the opportunity to sit down and listen to some new music to share. And I think I have some good stuff! Straight off, has anyone else gotten the new Girls soundtrack? There are some excellent tracks on there - if you love the show, you’ll love the soundtrack. You’ll notice quite a few Aussie bands here today - what can I say, I have Aussie pride!

BEST OF 2012 PART 2
Yes, so we’re not really in 2012 anymore but ah… yeah. Part 2 is way longer than part one, mainly because creating a list each (well, mostly each!) Sunday encouraged me to go out and find new music and I discovered some truly awesome new music!
BY THE WAY, SoundCloud has updated their website and it’s a million times easier to create playlists. Seriously, in the old format I could just not work out how to make playlists. It drove me nuts. But now I have a playlist for each month coming (January 2013 has already been created, with a new favourite song already!) and I’ll add past months soon. Standouts for me this week are The Joy Formidable, Dillon, Selah Sue and Deep Sea Diver. I’m really in love with the lovely ladies Dillon and Selah Sue - Dillon more like Lykke Li and Selah Sue more of a bluesy doyenne. And ‘Whirring’ and ‘You Go Running’ are going to be added to my Summer mix. Hope you love the songs this week as much as me!

Hello fellow music lovers! This week I basically listened to Mother Mother’s album all week. So it was hard to get my butt into gear to create this week’s list! Haha! But this week’s new finds are Widowspeak and Foxes. Widowspeak is a lovely duo from Brooklyn and Foxes is a powerhouse from Londinium (sorry, went a bit Mr Burns there). I’m also really enjoying Tim & Jean who I was pleased to discover are actually from Western Australia! Right, get to listening to these great tracks cos they’re not going to listen to themselves ;-)

Triple J has just finished up their awesome Triple J Unearthed Competition, where bands around Australia can share their music to a wider audience through Triple J. This year’s Triple J Unearthed High (just for high school students!) winners were Snakadaktal. Though I don’t love their name, I love their song Air! If you want to know more about Triple J Unearthed, go here - they’re actually starting a radio station just for Unearthed full of un-signed artists! So cool!

I’m not usually into this kind of music but something about this song got caught in my brain and now I love it. Very pretty. A driving song if you may?!

Yay! Another F+TM song! I can’t wait until October 31. Isn’t that also Halloween? Hey kids, hope you like Florence and The Machine cos that’s what I’ll be blaring from my house all night! I already love What The Water Gave Me, and Shake It Out is also awesome. If she keeps releasing songs until October, I think I can bare the wait!

Sometimes I wonder if Kate Nash reads my thoughts, because her songs are so like my life. I know that sounds like when people say ‘Oh my God, Sex In The City is so like my life!’ but it’s so true. She writes gorgeous, heart felt, real songs that you both want to sing and cry and laugh and yell at the same time. Listen to her first album Made Of Bricks and then quickly listen to My Best Friend Is You. Then message me and we can talk at length about our favourite songs!

I just realised we haven’t had a playlist in ages. Mainly because there hasn’t been much that’s piqued my interest! But there’s a ton of stuff I’m digging at the moment. It’s all a bit melancholy, but I promise you I’m listening to some upbeat stuff too! So here goes!

Vanderlye Crybaby Geeks | The National
Another song for my movie soundtrack! I can imagine this playing during the scene when my couple are both reflecting on the mess they’ve gotten themselves into/someone has died. My movie might suck but the soundtrack is going to be awesome. This is a heart-breakingly beautiful song. Don’t listen to this when you’re feeling sad.
Black Sheep | Scott Pilgrim vs The World
I finally got around to watching Scott Pilgrim vs The World and thought it was awesome! Very funny and quirky. Not for everyone - I know my friends would find it weird. But I loved it and the soundtrack even more. This song is originally by Metric (another band I love) which is probably why it has a count of 15 on my iTunes! Speaking of the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack…
Anthems For A 17 Year Old Girl | Broken Social Scene
OK, two things: this is a gorgeous song that made me cry. Two: this is actually quite an old song that I only heard after watching SPvTW. I love when a song evokes emotions, and this one makes breaks my heart!
I Will Never Love You More | Soko
Soko makes me want to learn the ukele! I’m a bit obsessed with Soko at the moment and this song is cute and sweet and funny. Best part ‘i will never love you more than Paul McCartney, when asked me to play him a song on my ukele’.
