We have just started daylight savings here so I’m a bit out of whack today! But oh my gosh, some beautiful music today. Denai Moore is such a find - beautiful voice, gorgeous lyrics. And I’m pretty sure Lorde will be all over the place soon, keep an ear out! BTW, I am now on Spotify! It took me a while, but now I’m hooked. I’ve got the Sunday Afternoon Playlist as a…playlist… so if you want it all in one hit, check it out! I think I just shared it… ugh, so confusing.
Best Of 2012: January to June
Can you believe that it’s almost the end of the year?! I discovered a lot of awesome new bands and songs this year so I thought I would go back and make up a list of my absolute favourites that have been on high rotation in the S+T household!
Heart It Races | Architecture In Helsinki
Every Single Night | Fiona Apple
No Room For Doubt | Lianne La Havas
Hello fellow music lovers! This week I basically listened to Mother Mother’s album all week. So it was hard to get my butt into gear to create this week’s list! Haha! But this week’s new finds are Widowspeak and Foxes. Widowspeak is a lovely duo from Brooklyn and Foxes is a powerhouse from Londinium (sorry, went a bit Mr Burns there). I’m also really enjoying Tim & Jean who I was pleased to discover are actually from Western Australia! Right, get to listening to these great tracks cos they’re not going to listen to themselves ;-)
Ballad Of The Golden Light | Widowspeak
Sunday Night Playlist
Wah, I’ve been so busy keeping cool and prepping for my stall today that I almost completely forgot to put up the list! My favourite new find this week (out of all my new favourites!) would be Hacienda. They kind of remind me of Supergrass! Anyway, their song Let Me Go makes me want to get up and dance…. which I would if it wasn’t so flippin hot.
Memori | Montag ft. Erika Spring
Sunday Night Playlist
….Aaaand we’re back! I needed a bit of a break yesterday but I’m back with a vengeance! And what better way to come back than with a kick-ass Sunday Night Playlist. I truly love indie girl bands so I was super excited to hear Haim. If you like First Aid Kit then I’m pretty sure you’ll like Haim. Also, The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt is a super fun and crazy band - what you would expect from a band with a name like that1 OK, on to the tunes!
Sunday Afternoon Playlist
Today’s playlist is again in the afternoon but hopefully there’s someone, somewhere that’s reading this at night! OK, so there are lots of new tunes again this week, some artists I’ve loved for ages and some newbies. Also can I suggest you buy Lianne La Havas album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough’. It’s been on repeat here this week!
Just FYI I’ve decided to start linking to SoundCloud because I’m incredibly sick and tired of every other YouTube video starting with an advert. I get it. Apple users are sheep. I should buy a car. Geeze Louise.
Sunday Night Playlist
OK so it’s not technically night but I’m all over the place right now with daylight savings. It feels like just after lunch but it’s 3 but I’m tired and…. yeah. But I have so many new songs to share this week that I’m going to power through! So many new artists, so little time. I stopped doing this a while ago but I’m going to write about each particular song this week because I’m so psyched. Woo! Music!
Barely Love You Too | Frank + Derol
One half of Frank + Derol is Miley Cyrus’ sister… I don’t know which one. I predict big things. It’s pop enough to play in the clothing chains but still enough of a difference to stand out - like a poppier version of Tegan & Sara.
Ivory Coast | Pure Bathing Culture
Dreamy, beachy, strummy, Summery. The film clip is particularly weird.
Nunca | Trails & Ways
Another feel good Summer song, they sound like someone but I can’t quite put my finger on it… maybe Passion Pit?
Things I Like To Do | Scorpio Loon
Unfortunately this is the only song by Scorpio Loon out at the moment. Scorpio Loon (real name Larry Alvarez) actually passed away in 2011 and asked his family to release his music. Hopefully there will be more out soon!
Generator 2nd Floor | Freelance Whales
Do you know who Darren Criss is? I don’t but apparently he is the brother of Chuck Criss who is part of this amazing band. Irregardless of it’s famous connections, this band is a real stand out and this song is on my ‘New’ playlist right now!
Lullabies | Yuna
I have a thing for ladies with amazing voices - Adele, Fiona Apple, Lianne La Havas, Regina Spektor, Sia… the list goes on and on. Well I’m now adding Yuna. J’adore her voice, her music, her everything. Also check out her cover of Come As You Are!
Hurt Me | The Jezabels
I don’t know if I’ve shared this song before but it recently came back onto my radar so I’m sharing it again…maybe. Anyway, The Jezabels are an amazing Aussie band and their album She’s So Hard is amazing and this song in particular… amazing.
Well that’s it for today lovelies but I have even MORE new songs to share with you next week! Oh yeah *does dance*

Sunday Night Playlist
I a huge, huge fan of the new James Bond films (I love Daniel Craig!) and I’m so excited about the new Skyfall movie! And when I found out that the new theme song was by Adele I was even more excited. Aaaaand, of course it’s amazing. I love that the original theme song is featured in it. Also I have had that Ellie Gould song stuck in my head for the last week. Addictive!
Anything Could Happen | Ellie Goulding
Dance Yrself Clean | LCD Soundsystem
Sunday Night Playlist
Have you guys heard of MS MR? I discovered them this week and have been playing their Candy bar Creep Show EP repeatedly! They’re just one of the fabulous bands in tonight’s list - enjoy my lovelies!
Sunday Night Playlist: Wes Anderson Edition
I love movies and music and when the two combine in a perfect way it makes both even more special! I have had a Wes Anderson movie weekend and I have to say his musical choices for his films are epic. After seeing Moonrise Kingdom I immediately bought the soundtrack and have had Françoise Hardy’s Le Temps de l’Amour on repeat - so 60’s, so French, so awesome! (if you have seen the movie it’s the song that plays when they’re dancing on the beach) And of course the amazing Seu Jorge and his covers of David Bowie songs - I love, love, love this album! Enjoy tonight’s list and go see Moonrise Kingdom!
Le Temps de l’Amour | Fracoise Hardy
Street Fighting Man | The Rolling Stones
Sunday Night Playlist
Well can y’all believe that it’s already Sunday again!? Tonight’s stand out songs are Kimbra’s mashup of Two Weeks/Head Over Heels and the incredible ear worm that is Apple Pie Bed by Lawrence Arabia. I look forward to sharing the Sunday Night Playlist all week, so without further ado, here we go!
Two Weeks/Head Over Heels | Kimbra
Sunday (almost) Night Playlist
Today’s playlist is early today, because tonight I will be driving back to Adelaide! This week I re-discovered my love of OK Go. You might know them from their amazing film clips, but the song This Too Shall Pass is my favourite (‘This too shall pass’ is also a mantra of mine) The rest of today’s list is very chill and sweet, perfect driving home music!
Oh Mama | HoneyHoney (I couldn’t find a good version of this on YouTube - get the song from iTunes, you won’t regret it!)
Sunday Night Playlist
It’s funny, at work I listen to classical music all day but once I’m in my car… it’s a different story! Tonight’s mish-mash includes TV On The Radio, Telekinesis, The Deadly Syndrome, and some old school Weezer. Enjoy my lovelies!
Coast Of Carolina | Telekinesis
Spirit Of The Stairs | The Deadly Syndrome
Wolf Like Me | TV On The Radio
Ice Cream | New Young Pony Club
I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked | Ida Maria

Sunday Night Playlist
Desperate forsomethingto watch until my shows come back on (no, I swear I’m not secretly a 90 year old. I just really like tv!) I decided to have a go with Rookie Blue, a Canadian cop-drama. Apart from being quite addictive, it has someamazingmusic on it! So tonight’s playlist is named ‘Blue Tunes’. Haha! OK, anyway, to the music.
P.S. - does anyone else watch Rookie Blue?! I’m only up to season two and I’m waiting for them to release season 3 on iTunes. I heard someone important dies in season 3, so I’m trying to avoid spoilers!
Crowd Surf Off A Cliff | Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton
And The Girls Go | Men Without Pants
Tickets & Passports | Holiday Parade
Silent Treatment | In Flight Safety

Sunday Night Playlist - Teen Flashback Edition!
This week I decided I needed to go back to my roots and listen to some music I loved when I was a teenager. I started going through the Triple J Hottest 100 lists… wow, it made me feel so old! I was like…’Oh I loved that song! What!? That was released in 2001? That’s not that far ago… oh… it’s 11 years. Wow’. Anyway, here are some songs I recorded to cassette while listening to the radio when I should have been studying! Remember cassettes?! Sigh. I had so many songs on this list, this is actually the cut down version! I was really into ska when I was younger too… especially Real Big Fish. Oh the memories…
Undone (The Sweater Song) | Weezer
Bitter Sweet Symphony | The Verve
Flagpole Sitta | Harvey Danger
Novocaine For The Soul | The Eels
