I’ve always been in love with Rifle, especially their floral artwork. So I fell in love with this Rifle inspired nail art by The Beauty Department! There are detailed step-by-step instructions for each flower style, plus a colour swatch of all the brands/colours they used in the tutorial. If you want to see more of the gorgeous Rifle wares, you can click here and for you Aussies, you can buy Rifle products from Lark (I really, really, really want a Rifle phone cover!)
One of the requests I get all the time is requests for short hair tutorials. But it’s so hard to find ones that aren’t just ‘slick it back with a headband’. So I love this updo - a gorgeous combo of braids and bouffant. Super pretty!
I’m loving this mix & match mani with it’s dots and lines! This might take a while to get perfect but it’s worth it!
I’m forever wanting haircuts that don’t suit me. I see a celebrity and think - oh that’s cute, I would love to have my hair like that! After checking my face shape on this handy little guide, I realise that I’m a pear faced lady who really would not look fantastic with a pixie cut or a middle part. And to be honest, Kelly Osborn always has amazing hair so I’m going to Google her and follow her lead, especially with that gorgeous top knot! There are guides for every face type and examples of great hairstyles so follow the guide and learn what suits your face!
It’s been intensely hot the last couple of weeks and even with sunscreen and shade I always seem to get ‘touched by the sun’. Dammit! This tutorial teaches you how to make a cooling tea bag pack that will help with the sting.
If you’re wanting to get in on the holiday spirit but not keen on wearing a jumper with a reindeer on it, try this festive nails instead! How do they get the look of confetti? With actual confetti of course! Top with a clear seal and you’ll be ready to party the night away!
All around my house you will find bottles of nail polish. The weirdest place I’ve found it? Next to my driveway. I think I painted my nails in my car, put it next to the car and forgot about it. Yep. Anyway, a storage box would be a lotmore practical and I’d be able to find the one I want without having to go on a treasure hunt! I also really like the way each bottle has the colour painted on top - a lot easier to work out which colour you want at a peek.
As a bit of a makeup novice, I usually choose colours on what I like instead of what would actually look good on me, leading to some very dodgy makeup choices! This is a perfect little guide for all of us on how to choose the best blush - something I love to wear! I’ve been wearing an apricot tone and realised the other day that it makes my skin look weirdly yellow. Time to go out and buy myself a pale pink!
It’s funny how just like fashion, beauty has it’s trends that are here one day, gone the next! Matte manicures used to be the new black. Then it was the crackle, the magnet manicure and now every girl worth her lipstick is getting lacquer manis! But personally, I’ll always love the look of matte nailpolish - that’s why I love this combo mani. Though my history with using tape with nailpolish has been… murky… I’m willing to try again to get this gorgeous effect!
Quite honestly, I’ve never really cared about my eyebrows. Previous painful, messy and too thin attempts via a rude and inexperienced beauty therapist made me very apprehensive! But seeing these truly gorgeous brows as inspired me to make an effort. Using the Too Faced Brow Envy Kit all you have to do is use the templates in the kit which includes brow powders, tweezers, and brushes to create perfect brows. I’m buying my kit now!
Herringbone Manicure | The Beauty Department
Wow is all I can say! What an adorable and fun manicure! I love when people have a mani with one fingernail in a different style, and this is a perfect example. OK, so it might take a little practice to be able to do this design but the effect is worth the effort right?!
Scalloped Eyeliner | The Beauty Department
I am a complete klutz when it comes to eyeliner so I avoid it like the plague, but this has to be one of the coolest patterns I’ve ever seen! Maybe not suitable for work (though I guess that depends where you work!) it’s so fun and really makes your eyes pop!
Mani Monday: Cheetah Print | The Beauty Department
Mani Mondays on TBD are my favourite! They always have amazing DIYs that make it look so easy. If only I was ambidextrous then my right hand nails would look as good as my left hand nails. But you know what they say - practice makes perfect!
Coconut & Rose Body Scrub | The Beauty Department
This might be the most perfect beauty gift to give someone that I’ve seen in ages! Once you’ve layered your ingredients, the giftee (or you!) smushes it all up before rubbing it on. The coconut oil is at the bottom of the jar and looks ‘solid’ at room temperature. On top of that they have layered rose petals, then raw sugar and finally super moisturising jojoba oil!
DIY Hair Necklace | The Beauty Department
I usually only post DIYs that I myself would want to do, but I gotta be honest - putting this in my hair would end up a massive, knotty disaster. But I love it so much I had to share it anyway! It reminds me of the very popular trend of long dangly ear cuffs that are everywhere at the moment. This does require a little skill - mainly using the pliers to open and close the loops of the chain - but once you get the hang of it you’ll be addicted to jewelry making and there’s no turning back! Haha!
