Pompom Tablecloth | The Sweetest Occasion
A party calls for fun and smile inducing surroundings, and you can’t get more fun than a pom pom tablecloth! This comes just in time for my niece’s birthday party - great for her candy buffet!
Etched Glass | The Sweetest Occasion
When someone mentions etched glass, I have to admit that it makes me think of those ugly old yellow glass doors from the 70’s! But now I’ll be thinking of these awesome jars. My niece has a party coming up and it would be lots of fun to make each of the girls their own monogrammed jar of lollies. Now I just need to try and find this etching paste in Adelaide…
Glittery Gumdrop Ornaments | The Sweetest Occasion
Darn it, where was this tutorial three weeks ago?! I had a vision of my tree being Candy Land themed, with candy canes, pastel ornaments, and yes, a gum drop garland! I was originally going to use actual gumdrops and spray them with glue but yeah… it didn’t work. It was a sugary sticky mess. This is a much easier and less sticky way to make them! Oh well, it’s a perfect craft to make during Christmas holidays ready for next Christmas!
Glitter Vases | The Sweetest Occasion
I think I may have been a bower-bird in a past life, because anything shiny/glittery/sparkly draws me in! I also love the Martha Stewart glitters, and this is a great way to use them.
Geometric Party Goods | The Sweetest Occasion
I love crafts that have multiple uses - take your strip of leather, cut out your triangles and you can create so many items! There are some great ideas here for your triangles - a pretty bunting, napkin ring decoration, even a simple statement necklace!
DIY Peach Prize Ball | The Sweetest Occasion
We’re already planning my niece’s birthday party for March and when I came across this DIY I thought it would be a fantastic alternative to the normal goodie bags! All you have to do is get some little toys, chocolates, etc. and then start wrapping them with crepe paper strips. It’s like your own personal little pass the parcel! You could adapt this for older kids too - think small jewelry items, chocolates, key chains - anything small and easy to wrap. Wouldn’t this be a great way to propose to someone, with the engagement ring wrapped in the middle?!
Hand Painted Mug | The Sweetest Occasion
One thing you learn about working in an office - do not touch other people’s mugs. Doing so will lead to passive-agressive emails, accusations and hurt feelings. The only thing is that everyone in our office has very similar mugs that they all put into the same cupboard, so the above situations quite often arise! So for Christmas I’m going to make people personalised mugs like the above one so that there can be a little peace this Holiday season!
Tassel Garland | The Sweetest Occasion
I’ve featured tassel garlands before but up until now I’ve not seen any that feature silver or gold tassels! These are made using mylar (which I’m pretty sure you can buy from party supply stores) This tutorial shows you how to make these tassels, and you will be incredibly surprised at just how easy it is to make - chop, twist, twist!
Glittery Winter Houses | The Sweetest Occasion
Did you know it’s Christmas? It is, I swear! Well… it is in the stores. Giddy Aunt. It’s really weird seeing Halloween decorations next to Christmas stuff. I’m not going to bombard you with a lot of stuff until November, but I couldn’t resist showing this gorgeous little glittery village. I’ve been trying to work out what colours I’m going to do this Christmas (yes, I have a different colour theme each year!) and I think I’ll base it on this. I think it will look super cute on my mantel!
DIY Party Animals | The Sweetest Occasion
Sometimes I think I should go into party planning just so I can get to do all these amazing party crafts I see! I honestly think these are the cutest candle holders I’ve ever seen. I think people are going to start to think I’m obsessed with spray painting plastic toys. I’m not. I swear.
OK, maybe a little.
DIY Pencil Holder | The Sweetest Occasion
For some reason this makes me think of cake?! New pencils are probably better than new crayons. Except for when the lead is broken through the centre and you sharpen them and they keep breaking and ARGHSTUPIDPENCILWHYDOIKEEPSHARPENINGYOUWHENYOU’REBROKENINSIDE!? What was I saying? Oh yeah, this is really cool. Thank goodness I have a drill. Now I just need a big block of wood and some super sharp pencils…
DIY Bunting Tablecloth | The Sweetest Occasion
When I first saw this I was like, ‘eh, it’s just paper bunting hung on the table’. No it’s not! It’s actually printed onto the cloth. How awesome! And the best part is that you can see it without having to sit at the table. This would be a perfect party table cloth to bring out on special occasions.
DIY Fringe Chandelier | The Sweetest Occasion
Another chandelier project, I know, but this is so fun! And easy to make. You could go for all one colour like the one pictured here, or you could go ‘ombre’ and go from dark fringe to light fringe. The beauty of this is that you could make it as small or big as you like!
DIY Feather Chandelier | The Sweetest Occasion
This one is for my dreamy, fluffy, sweet as candy DIYers! So pretty and summery, this would look just as great in your hair as blowing in the warm summer wind. Yes, I’m missing Summer. I never thought I would say that. Bring in Spring already!
DIY Stop Motion Video | The Sweetest Occasion
I love stop motion videos, but they’ve always seemed really hard and time intensive. Well… yes, it is time intensive but it’s actually a lot easier than it seems! This tutorial is made using a Mac, but you can use other video programs to make your masterpiece!
p.s. the gorgeous pic is by Lola’s Room!
