Two Seam Top | Elegant Musings
So I have to admit it took me a while to work out how this was made/worn, but once I did I was like - that’s super cute! The fact that it’s made from jersey and only has two seams that I think even I could make this!
Simple Cotton Top | A Beautiful Mess
Here’s another simple to sew top for all my beginner sewers (that includes me!) This is a pretty and easy (pretty easy, hah!) pattern, and bonus: no patterns! Ugh, patterns are the bane of my existence. I’m also digging this fabric! Plus, if you don’t want to do straps in the same fabric as the shirt body, the possibiltes are endless - you could use lace, ribbon, any kind of trim (pom pom!?) or even leather thonging or chain!
Pillowcase Top | How Joyful
I have gotten a few requests lately for simple sewing projects - well this is as simple as it gets! And with the super hot weather here at the moment, this would be lovely and cool to wear. The great thing about this project is that you can either use a patterend pillowcase or you can use a plain one and tizzy it up.
Simple Bow Tie Top | Sweet Verbena
My very late New Year’s resolution (or very early?!) is to sew more. I used to sew a lot but as I’m want to do, I pick up another craft and get stuck on that. But I’m still very much ‘beginner’ with sewing so I need a few projects that are easy. The first I’m going to try is this bow tie top. It’s pretty, great for Summer and easy to sew. Now I’m going to search for more beginner sewing projects!
Oversized Vintage Cream Blouse | Freshly Given
Yowza! Now this is a shirt makeover! This used to be an ill fitting, nana blouse. Now it’s a gorgeous, Summery, modern looking shirt. It looks like something you would buy from an expensive boutique. In fact, the whole outfit pictured cost $4!
Embellished Knit | Grosgrain
This is a great example of a top you can do with fabric glue if you don’t have access to a sewing machine. Isn’t it amazing how a little bit of trim can instantly transform a top?! Loving that daisy trim!
1 Hour Kaftan | Sew Convert
Another sewing project, this one is more my speed. And how pretty is it?! I love that it’s such an easy project that you can make it for literally any shape or size. If you’re into dressing the same as your child, you could make a mummy and me top!? But ah, if you’re not, you could also make one for your little one in a different fabric. Such a perfect top for summer, nice and lightweight - I also like the fact that if you choose a really dressy fabric it’s a evening wear piece, and in a bright sunny fabric it can take you from beach to brunch!
Embellished Tee | Dear Lizzy
I saw a top like this in Kmart the other day and thought - ooh, I’m going to buy that! But then I thought - no, I’ll wait til it’s on sale. So finally sales come around… and it’s not there anymore. Boo! This always happens to me. You know how people say ‘if I go back and it’s still there, then it’s meant to be?’. Well obviously nothing I adore was ever meant to be mine! Haha! But anyway, here is a tutorial on how to make the same thing, only I think I will use a trick I saw in a previous DIY and instead of sewing the flowers on, I’ll velcro them so I can take them off before washing to maintain their freshness!
Outfit By Me | Boho Luxe
Inspired by a message from Jojepie, I thought - how cool would it be to have a whole outfit you could make?! So here is the first, ‘Boho Luxe’, a whole outfit that you can make from head to to toe (yes, including the shoes!) A great outfit for the weekend, and also really easy to make, so you can spend more time shopping! (or whatever it is you like doing on the weekend?!)

Romanticism Top | Phosphene
This top is so true to it’s name, and makes me think of a swan, or something a ballerina would wear on her day off. I would get this dirty in about five seconds, but I imagine that someone more sophisticated could pull it off!
Striped & Ruffled Rose Tank | Adventures in Dressmaking
Do you find that sometimes you find something in the store and think - ‘I would buy that if…’
I do this all the time. Either I like the design but the ‘body’ of the piece is hideous (case in point - what’s up with all the assymetrical tops at the moment!? They’re so ugly!) or I really like the body and they’ve ruined it with a creepy picture or some dodgy embellishment. Or it’s plain and boring and needs a bit more va va voom! This happened in almost every store I went into last weekend. So I decided I needed to get my sewing machine back out (it’s sitting in my sewing room collecting dust, sorry machine!) and whip up something as sweet and pretty as this. I don’t know if I would use stripes, and I think it would look sweet with a plain top with like a ditsy print rose… the possibilities are endless and can be tailored just for me!
